ALFA III International Event Coordination

Brussels, Belgium (March 25, 2013). With the aim of promoting knowledge exchange, each year the European Union runs the “International Coordination Event for the ALFA III programme”. This year, representatives of the 51 projects will meet in Managua, Nicaragua between April 22 and 24, 2013.

The event will host over 120 representatives of the ALFA III projects, who over three days will share their experiences of implementing these projects and identify partnership opportunities.

The aims of the event are to:

ü Present the current state of implementation of the 51 ALFA projects.

ü Discuss the difficulties, best practices and lessons learned in the implementation of the projects.

ü Highlight and share methods and strategies for the technical and financial management of projects.

ü Present case studies, best practices and recommendations for the management and sustainability of projects.

ü Present tools for achieving communication and visibility.

ü Provide information about future European Union initiatives on higher education.

This will be the perfect occasion to analyse the opportunities for continuing and/or expanding the ALFA III projects, which are scheduled to conclude in 2014, and in particular to strengthen partnership opportunities between Latin American countries.

The event will bring together ALFA III projects from the first, second and third call. The involvement of projects that have completed their activities will be an excellent opportunity to learn about the scale of their impact and the lessons learned.

ALFA III is a cooperation programme between the European Union (EU) and Latin America (LA) that promotes Higher Education as a means of social and economic development and struggle against social inequality.
